Treasury on the Plaza Wedding | Amber and Derrick

November 11, 2016  •  26 Comments

When I woke up on November 5th and stepped outside into the beautiful sunshine, I knew it was going to be an amazing day. Amber and Derrick celebrated their love for each other in front of friends and family in one of the most beautiful venues in Florida, The Treasury on the Plaza in Saint Augustine. In the early 20th century, Treasury on the Plaza was a historic bank that was converted to a wedding venue. There were so many truly beautiful moments and details on Amber and Derrick's wedding day. Amber's father passed away, and to honor his memory, she wore his shoes down the aisle with her uncle escorting her. There was not a dry eye in the audience for that special moment.

One of the things I love about this couple is that when they are together they are completely focused on each other. They are accomplished and amazing people individually, but together they are incredible. In the middle of wedding planning, they started a new business together called Florida Fun Bikes in Gainesville, Florida. When Amber told me about it, my jaw dropped because their ability to juggle their incredibly busy lives and focus on their love for each other is truly inspiring. I could write a novel about how awesome they are, but I know y'all came here to look at their wedding pictures, so here they are!

The entire wedding day could not have been more perfect, and a large part of that was the amazing coordinators at Uncorked Occasions, the staff at Treasury on the Plaza, and Amber's sweet cousin Tifanie Owens.

Her shoes were incredibly gorgeous!!

Amber's father's shoes that she walked down the aisle in.

Isn't she stunning?

To pay homage to Derrick's baseball career, their ring bearer walked down the aisle with a baseball glove and ball.

Have you ever seen a more stunning bridal party? Holy moly!

I loved working with this group of ladies!

This couple gave me chills! Look at how they look at each other!

Amber changed into a second stunning dress and danced with her mom and her uncle.

Pensacola, Florida Wedding at Skopelos at New World | Danielle and Brandon

July 19, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Do you remember Danielle and Brandon's gorgeous engagement session at the Henry B Plant Museum in Tampa earlier this year? Their wedding was even more beautiful. I arrived at Skopelos at New World the morning of wedding day to find Danielle laughing and enjoying her time with family and the bridal party. Brandon greeted me at the door with a quick hug and then immediately went to work on wedding day details. The morning was bright and sunny and filled with excitement. Danielle showed me her details, and I nearly cried when she handed me her Jimmy Choo shoes. I loved the way they went from gold to silver down the sides. As we neared time for the ceremony the afternoon summer storms began to roll into Pensacola. It was a miracle how the storms completely went around where we were during the day. Danielle and Brandon said their vows in the oldest church in Pensacola, Old Christ Church, with their family and closest friends watching on. They danced the night away at Skopelos at New World. It was such an incredible and blessed day, and I loved being a part of the sweet beginning of their marriage.

Orlando, Florida Wedding at Omni Resort at Championsgate | Lionel + Cecily

May 24, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

The first time I met Lionel and Cecily, they blew me away with their incredible dancing. Cecily was a bridesmaid at Eric and Emma's Marie Selby Gardens wedding last January(Featured in Allure Bridals blog here!). When Cecily and Lionel asked me to photograph their wedding, I was overjoyed. And the more I got to know them, the more I came to love them. We flew to Boston to photograph their engagement session at their alma mater, MIT. I love that they fused their Indian and Puerto Rican and Indian cultures together. There were many traditions throughout the wedding weekend that involved family members. I loved witnessing the Suthi, a blessing ceremony, the morning of the wedding. Cecily's extended family members joined her parents in blessing her marriage and life. It was so moving to watch each family member come up and individually say a blessing over her. We started the gorgeous day out at the Omni Resort of Orlando in Championsgate and it only got prettier from there.

Cecily wore her engagement ring and her alumni ring from MIT on wedding day!

Isn't that Hayley Paige dress incredible?

I loved this quiet moment while Lionel wrote his love letter to Cecily.

Sometimes it takes an entire village to help you get your dress perfect.

You are such a GQ model, Lionel.

During the Suthi prayer ceremony, Cecily's family blessed her and her marriage.

His face when he saw her for the first time.

I saw you two smiling at each other during the ceremony.

Another beautiful tradition.

Married!!!

I love that the wind picked up her veil at this exact moment.

My jaw dropped when I walked into the reception hall. Suhaag Garden outdid themselves.

Another set of blessings from the family members.
And then this happened! The bridal party did a surprise Bollywood style choreographed dance and it was epic.

Amy and Cameron | Plantation Hall at Haile Gainesville Florida

March 27, 2016  •  5 Comments

My first wedding of 2016 is officially in the books! And what an amazing way to start the year! This wedding holds a special place in my heart. I first met Amy and Cameron the summer of my freshmen year at the University of Florida. I joined my college improv club, Theatre Strike Force and loved how the people I met in that club were vibrant, caring, and hilarious. Amy graduated the year I started college and she moved to Colorado. Luckily, I got to see her whenever she came back to visit Gainesville. I remember watching Cameron and Amy date long distance throughout college and was always amazed at how they made it look so easy. They didn't know it at the time, but their love was inspiration for my own long distance relationship, and I will always be grateful for that. Cameron eventually moved out to Colorado to be with his sweetheart, and they tied the knot this past weekend at Plantation Hall in Haile Village, a small community in Gainesville, Florida.

The entire week before wedding day, the weather channel had been calling for thunderstorms and even hail! On wedding day it rained in the morning, but by early afternoon the sunshine came out and the skies were blue. There were so many beautiful details from this Plantation Hall wedding. One of my favorites was the bouquet Amy picked out. She had The Plant Shoppe Florist put gardenias in her bouquet because her mother's wedding bouquet had gardenias. It was a touching way to honor her parents marriage.

Doesn't she look gorgeous in her BHDLN dress!!

We made dog friends on wedding day.

Yay! The marriage certificate is signed!

This was such a crazy moment during the ceremony. Amy's parents both walked her up the aisle, but then her mom's heel got caught in the wedding dress!! Luckily there were plenty of people able to step in and save the day.

I love the way Amy and Cameron communicate and make each other laugh.

Oh my gosh. All the tears.  What a beautiful ceremony.

I loved that they had a friend officiate their wedding.

Look! I put together a stylish outfit on wedding day! Remember last week's post about my outfit blunders?

Victoria and Joe | Nautical Ribault Club Jacksonville Wedding

February 03, 2016  •  7 Comments

I have been dying to share this wedding with you. Victoria and Joe were married in October under a beautiful old oak tree with Spanish moss at the waterfront wedding venue, The Ribault Club Inn . You may recognize them from their nautical engagement shoot. I loved how much time they allowed for getting ready in the morning and all of the sentimental details that were true to them as a couple.

Victoria was gracious enough to share in her own words her thoughts on the wedding to her sweet Joe.

"Joe and I have been together for over five years and we knew we wanted to marry one another after just a month, so I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about our wedding well before he proposed in the mountains of North Carolina last August. I knew I wanted the day to be fresh, classic, and fun with details that represented our families and our story as a couple. My dad and brother are competitive sailors and I was able to introduce Joe to sailing over the course of our relationship and he is now hooked too. In homage to that, we incorporated nautical touches throughout the wedding, like the monkey’s fist knots on each table that my dad painstakingly tied and our first dance song, Sea of Love by Cat Power.  Each of our moms contributed homemade treats as well; Joe’s mom made delicious apple pies, which were a crowd favorite, and my mom and I made her famous homemade jam for favors. And Joe and I did a lot of DIY, though we were most proud of the two cornhole sets we made for cocktail hour. When I first visited the Ribault Club, the history and landscape took my breath away and I knew we had found our venue.

I wanted a dress with two looks (because I can never decide) with an illusion neckline and classic lines. My mom and I had fun visiting bridal salons but I couldn’t get excited about any of the dresses I tried on. I ended up having my dress custom made by a woman on Etsy and it turned out better than I could have hoped. My dress was one of my favorite details. It featured a lace sheath with a removable tulle overskirt. One of the bridesmaids ended up hand sewing her dress to get the perfect tulle skirt to the fun of the wedding.

Wedding planning is incredibly fun, and sometimes stressful, but Joe was amazing about keeping our eyes on the prize – starting our married life together. My favorite part of planning and what turned out to be our favorite part of the day was writing our vows. We researched and reflected separately and came together to write out all of the core messages about marriage. It was an amazing experience to see all of our ideas of what this next stage of our life should look like up on a white board and then to have those coalesce into our promises to one another.

One of my maids of honor, Emily Parsons (EPar Studios), is an incredible artist and illustrator who lent her considerable talents to our wedding stationary. She worked with me to create a custom monogram that I put on everything – invitations, programs, coozies. It was an wonderful gift to have custom invitations done by one of my oldest friends.

Another way we tried to incorporate our love of the sea was through watercolors, which were used in the invitation suite, programs, and other details. I even tried my hand at watercolor calligraphy for the jam labels and the antique luggage we used to collect cards!"
